Bandarban's draws are almost entirely outdoors: trekking in the hill country, visiting indigenous villages, and exploring viewpoints and waterfalls. The town itself is a base rather than a destination, though the Golden Temple deserves a visit on arrival.
Most serious trekking requires a permit and a guide — organize both before leaving Bandarban town. The district headquarters is a good place to start for current permit information.
