Kep is the obvious day trip from Kampot — 25 kilometres east along the coastal road, past salt fields and mangroves. The former French colonial resort is architecturally interesting (ruined villas covered in jungle) and the seafood is excellent. A tuk-tuk to Kep costs around $8–10 return with waiting time.
