The Ma'anshan Yangtze riverfront promenade runs for several kilometers along the western edge of the city, providing continuous access to the river and views across to the Jiangsu shore. In the evening, illuminated pedestrian walkways and outdoor exercise areas make it the most animated public space in the city; the river itself carries a constant traffic of container ships, barges, and ferries that is mesmerizing to watch from the embankment.
The promenade connects to the ferry terminal for Caishiji across the river, making it a natural starting point for a morning visit to the Li Bai memorial. The stretch immediately north of the ferry terminal has the best views of the river bends and the greatest concentration of evening food and drink vendors.
