Ma'anshan's main claim on travelers is the Caishiji Scenic Area — the cliff above the Yangtze where Li Bai spent his final years and where a literary pilgrimage site has accumulated around his tomb for over a thousand years. The combination of the river setting, the carved-inscription cliff face, and the ferry approach makes Caishiji the most rewarding few hours available in or near the city. The Ma'anshan Museum is worth an hour for its Chu and Han dynasty finds, and the city's Yangtze riverfront promenade is pleasant for an evening walk.
