Wuhu is exceptionally well connected by high-speed rail. Wuhu station on the Nanjing-Anqing intercity line puts Nanjing about forty minutes away and Hefei about an hour. The newer Wuhu North station serves additional high-speed routes. Both stations are linked to the city center by bus and taxi.
The city sits on the Yangtze River south bank, and the Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge provides road and rail crossing to the north. For visitors coming from Shanghai, the Shanghai-Wuhan high-speed service stops at Wuhu North. The proximity to Nanjing makes Wuhu a realistic day trip from that city, though an overnight stay is more relaxed.
