Xidi lies roughly ninety minutes by road from Huang Shan city (Tunxi). Tourist buses run from Huangshan North railway station to Xidi and the nearby village of Hongcun, making a combined visit to both UNESCO villages possible in a single day. Taxis from Tunxi are convenient for groups and cost around ¥120–150 one way.
The entrance fee for the village is around ¥105, which covers access to the main compounds. Some individual houses charge additional small fees. The village is compact enough to cover on foot; no internal transport is needed once inside. The main car park is outside the village boundaries, so the approach on foot is the only option from the gate.
