Ningde city is on the high-speed rail line between Fuzhou and Wenzhou, connecting to Fuzhou in under an hour and to Hangzhou in about three hours. Fuding, the gateway to Taimu Mountain, is a separate station on the same line further north. Long-distance buses serve the interior counties (Pingnan, Zhouning, Shouning) that are not on the rail network. The high-speed rail station is on the western outskirts of the city, connected to the centre by local bus and taxi.
