Zhanjiang Xuwen Airport serves the city with domestic flights from Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, and other major cities. The airport is about 35 kilometres from the city centre. High-speed rail connects Zhanjiang to Guangzhou in about two and a half hours on the Guiguang high-speed railway; the Zhanjiang West station is the main high-speed stop, several kilometres from the city centre.
For Hainan Island, ferries depart from the Xuwen port (the southern tip of the Leizhou Peninsula, about 60 kilometres from the city) to Haikou in about ninety minutes, running frequently throughout the day and night. Buses connect Zhanjiang's main bus terminal to Xuwen, and through-ticket buses run directly to the ferry. The cross-strait highway tunnel under construction will eventually add a fixed link.
