The Zhuhai Fisher Girl is the city's best-known symbol: a graceful stone figure standing in the water along Xianglu Bay, holding a pearl above her head. The statue is simple, but it has become the image Zhuhai uses to present itself as a softer, seaside neighbour to Macau and Guangzhou.
Visit it as part of a walk or cycle along Lovers' Road rather than as a single stop. The bay, skyline, sea air, and stream of local photographers do most of the work. It is touristy, but in a city short on old monuments, it gives Zhuhai a recognisable focal point.
