Getting There

Baoding is one of the easiest day trips from Beijing: high-speed trains on the Beijing–Guangzhou line run roughly every 30 minutes and take about 40 minutes to reach Baoding East station. The station is east of the city centre; taxis cover the distance in 15 minutes. The last trains back to Beijing run in the late evening, making a long day trip viable.

For the Western Qing Tombs in Yi County, the most practical approach from Baoding is by taxi or hired car (about one hour each way). Direct buses from Beijing to Yi County also exist but take longer. Most visitors combine the tombs with an overnight in Baoding rather than attempting them as a Beijing day trip.
