Luoyang is on the main high-speed rail line (G-train) connecting Zhengzhou and Xi'an. From Zhengzhou, trains take about 45 minutes. From Xi'an, the journey is about 90 minutes. Both cities have international airports, making them the usual gateways. Luoyang's own airport has limited routes — most travellers arrive by train.
Luoyang has two main train stations: Luoyang Station (洛阳站) in the city centre, serving conventional trains, and Luoyang Longmen Station (洛阳龙门站) south of the city, serving high-speed trains. Most travellers use Longmen Station. From there, taxi and metro connections reach the centre in about 20 minutes.
From Beijing, high-speed trains run via Zhengzhou and take around 3.5 hours. From Shanghai, the journey via Nanjing and Zhengzhou takes about 5 hours. Regular overnight sleeper trains also connect Luoyang with Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou for those on a budget.
