Built in 1847, Man Mo is one of the oldest and most atmospheric temples on Hong Kong Island, dedicated to the god of literature (Man) and the god of war (Mo). The interior is thick with incense smoke from the coils hanging overhead, and the contrast with the surrounding modern city is striking. The temple is on Hollywood Road between the antique shops of Sheung Wan and the galleries and bars of SoHo — easy to combine with a walk along either. Open daily; no admission charge.
