August 7th Meeting Site

The August 7th Meeting Site preserves the Hankou building where the Chinese Communist Party held an emergency meeting in 1927 after the Nanchang uprising. The decision to shift toward armed rural revolution made the site a major stop for visitors tracing modern Chinese political history.

Exhibits explain the meeting, its participants, and its place in the early Chinese Civil War. It is close enough to the old Hankou riverfront to fit into a walking route through the former concession districts.
