Wuhan sits at the geographical heart of central China and is one of the country's main rail hubs. High-speed trains arrive at three stations: Wuhan Station (east, opened 2009) handles trains on the Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed line, Hankou Station in the north of the city handles trains east-west (to Shanghai, Chengdu), and Wuchang Station mostly serves regular-speed trains. Train times: roughly 4 hours from Beijing, 4 from Shanghai, 5 from Guangzhou, 5 from Chengdu.
Wuhan Tianhe International Airport (WUH), about 25 kilometres north, has direct flights to Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Paris, and most major Chinese cities. The metro Line 2 connects the airport to the city centre in about 45 minutes.
Yangtze cruises to and from Chongqing — the classic Three Gorges route — also start and end at Wuhan, leaving from the Hankou Cruise Pier.
