Moshan Scenic Area

Moshan is a wooded hill jutting into East Lake on its southern shore — the most picturesque corner of the lake and the centre of its park system. The slopes hold the Wuhan Botanical Garden, a Chu-dynasty heritage village, a cherry blossom garden, and the Mochou Pavilion. Walking trails climb to viewpoints over the lake.

In spring the cherry blossom gardens here rival those at Wuhan University, but with a fraction of the crowds. The lakeside paths are cycled by university students and visiting families. A small ferry from Moshan crosses the lake to the Botanical Garden side; cycling around the whole lake takes most of a day. Entry is free; some sub-attractions charge small fees.
