Vox is the most important live-music venue in central China — a small, dark, low-ceilinged club near the western gate of Wuhan University that has been a launching pad for Wuhan's vigorous indie-rock scene since 2004. Bands like SMZB and AV Okubo cut their teeth here; touring international bands on the China circuit usually play Vox when they come through.
The space is unpretentious — concrete walls, a few sofas, a bar selling Snow beer and Tsingtao — but the lineups are consistently strong. Gigs usually start late, around 9 or 10 pm. Tickets are cheap (50–150 RMB) and best bought at the door. Check the schedule on Wuhan music blogs or via the club's WeChat account before going.
