Getting There

Xiangyang is well connected by high-speed rail to Wuhan (about 90 minutes), Xi'an (around 2 hours), and Zhengzhou. The high-speed station is Xiangyang East, in the eastern part of the city; the older Xiangyang station in the city centre handles slower trains. The city is on the main Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed corridor via Wuhan, making it easy to include as a stop on a longer journey through central China.

There is no scheduled airline service from a major hub directly to Xiangyang, though Xiangyang Airport handles some domestic routes. Most visitors arrive by high-speed rail from Wuhan, which is the obvious base for exploring Hubei; a day trip from Wuhan is entirely feasible if you want to see the walls and Gulongzhong without staying overnight.
