Deji Art Museum occupies several floors inside the Deji Plaza luxury mall in Xinjiekou, making it one of the more unusual museum locations in China. The museum hosts rotating exhibitions of contemporary Chinese and international art, with a programme that tilts toward immersive and digital installations alongside more conventional gallery shows.
The combination of high-end retail and contemporary art is intentionally jarring and fits the spirit of Xinjiekou, Nanjing's most dense commercial district. Entry is ticketed separately from the mall. The museum is a good wet-weather option and particularly popular with younger visitors.
