Shangrao's food reflects its position at the intersection of four provinces. You'll find dishes from the Jiangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Anhui traditions within a few blocks of each other in the central city. The local specialty is a fresh rice noodle soup with preserved vegetables and cured pork that differs slightly from the Nanchang version — slightly thicker noodles, a more mineral-tasting broth. The central market area around Guangxin has good informal eating.
