The fish markets near the port and at Fujiazhuang sell live seafood — sea urchin, abalone, crab, scallops, and clam — directly off the boats. The standard approach is to buy what catches your eye and take it to one of the small restaurants surrounding the market, who will cook it for a modest fee. Sea urchin roe (uni) eaten here, pulled straight from the shell, is a Dalian institution. Prices are far cheaper than in the restaurants.
