Snake Island is part of the Snake Island and Laotie Mountain National Nature Reserve, off the coast of the Lushunkou district. The island is known for its endemic pit vipers and is not a casual beach excursion: visits require a guide and are mainly for travellers with a strong interest in wildlife and protected natural areas.
