Dandong railway station sits in the city centre and is on the main Beijing–Dandong line. High-speed trains connect to Shenyang North in approximately two and a half hours, and to Beijing in around five hours. There is no high-speed connection south to Dalian, but conventional trains cover the coastal route in three to four hours.
The city does not have a commercial airport. Shenyang Taoxian International Airport is the nearest major hub, about 220 kilometres away. Long-distance buses also serve Shenyang and other Liaoning cities from Dandong's bus terminal.
