Haibao Pagoda

The Haibao Pagoda (North Pagoda) is one of Yinchuan's oldest landmarks, a nine-storey brick tower that has stood since at least the 5th century. The pagoda follows a distinctive cross-shaped plan rather than the octagonal form common to Chinese Buddhist towers — a design that reflects Central Asian influences. It has been rebuilt several times after earthquake damage, most recently in the 18th century.

The surrounding temple complex is active and pleasant to wander. The pagoda can be climbed for views across the city's northern districts and out toward the Yellow River plain beyond.
