Yushu's main sites are the Mani Stone complex outside town, several active monasteries, and the Princess Wencheng Temple cliff carving 20 kilometres south. The city is also the gateway to the Sanjiangyuan National Park — the source region of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Mekong rivers — and a base for trekking and horse riding in the surrounding high grassland.
