Baoji is 50 minutes from Xi'an by high-speed train — a frequent service that makes it one of the most accessible day trips from the provincial capital. The high-speed trains run on the Longhai railway corridor, with services roughly every 30 minutes during peak hours. Regular trains also run from Lanzhou, Chengdu, and other regional cities.
By expressway from Xi'an the journey takes about 90 minutes. The drive through the lower Wei River valley is not particularly scenic; the views improve considerably once you turn south into the Qinling foothills.
