The pink-and-silver pearls-on-a-spike tower that defined the Pudong skyline before the supertalls arrived. Completed in 1994 at 468 m, it was for a few years the tallest structure in China. The lower sphere has a small but enjoyable Shanghai History Museum at its base, and the glass-floored observation deck at 259 m is the original Pudong vertigo experience. Beaten on height by everything around it now, but still iconic.
