An antique and curio market on Fuyou Road in the Old Town, operating on weekends (and especially Sunday mornings from around 5 am) as one of the few remaining informal antique markets in central Shanghai. The market occupies multiple floors of a building that was originally a residential courtyard house, with dealers spreading into the surrounding lanes on busy weekends.
The goods range from genuine antique ceramics and furniture (rare and expensive) through export porcelain, old coins, Cultural Revolution memorabilia, vintage photographs, and outright fakes. The distinction requires knowledge; prices are negotiable for everything. The market is at its most active in the early morning — arrival by 7 am on Sunday gives access before the more casual visitor traffic arrives.
