Lujiazui Riverside Promenade

Riverside promenade along the east Huangpu bank in Lujiazui with Bund views

The pedestrian promenade along the east bank of the Huangpu River at Lujiazui provides the view of the Bund from the opposite side — less common and in some ways more revealing than the view from the Bund itself, because you can see the entire colonial waterfront in a single sight line rather than being embedded within it.

The promenade runs from the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel exit north to the ferry pier area, approximately half a kilometre. The best viewing times are early morning (when the Bund is lit by low angle sun from the east) and late evening (when both banks are illuminated). The ferry from the Bund to Lujiazui costs a few yuan and is one of the shortest ferry crossings of any major city river in the world.
