An outdoor antique market in the Huangpu district, a short walk north of Tianzifang, that is one of the few remaining street-level antique markets in central Shanghai. The dealers on Dongtai Road sell Qing dynasty furniture, Republican-era advertising posters, Mao-era ceramics, vintage clocks, and an assortment of curios and reproduction antiques.
The market is at its best on weekday mornings when the dealers set up along both sides of the street. Weekend tourist traffic has pushed prices higher than they were historically, but genuine pieces remain available at prices below auction house equivalents. Negotiation is expected. The road is about 500 metres from the Huangpi South Road Metro station.
