Yunxiang Temple is a reconstructed Buddhist temple in Nanxiang, a north-western part of Shanghai with older roots than the city's modern skyline suggests. The temple traces its history to the 6th century, though the present buildings are modern reconstructions.
The main reason to stop is the setting: tall drum and bell towers, a compact temple compound, and two old stone pagodas nearby. It works best as part of a Nanxiang or Jiading outing rather than a cross-town trip for the temple alone.
