The Hukou Waterfall scenic area encompasses several viewpoints along both the Shanxi and Shaanxi banks of the Yellow River gorge, as well as a short stretch of the river above the falls where you can walk along the bare sandstone ledges at low water. The main draw is the falls themselves, but the surrounding loess plateau landscape rewards a longer look.
