Linfen is on the main Taiyuan-Xi'an rail corridor and is reached by high-speed train from Taiyuan in about 50 minutes or from Xi'an in under two hours. The high-speed station is slightly south of the city centre. Regular trains and buses also connect Linfen to Yuncheng (about 80 km to the south) and to Lüliang to the northwest.
The Guangsheng Temple and Feihong Pagoda are 40 km northeast of Linfen, reachable by taxi or occasional local bus. The Yao Temple is south of the city and also requires a taxi. For the Hukou Waterfall, the journey westward is about 150 km and takes three or more hours by public transport — most visitors hire a driver for the day.
