The most worthwhile purchases in Taiyuan are food products: aged Shanxi vinegar, Fen Jiu baijiu, and Shanxi noodle types to take home. These are available in specialist food shops around the city centre and in the food halls of the main department stores on Yingze Avenue. The Shanxi Museum gift shop stocks a modest range of heritage reproductions and local craft products. For everything else, the main shopping streets and the underground commercial complex at Wuyi Square have the full range of Chinese retail.
