Chengdu is served by two airports: Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), which opened in 2021 and handles most long-haul flights, and the older Chengdu Shuangliu Airport (CTU), which continues operating domestic and regional services. Both are connected to the city centre by metro. International flights connect Chengdu directly to major Asian hubs and a growing number of European cities.
By rail, Chengdu East station has high-speed connections to Chongqing (60 minutes), Kunming, Xi'an, and Beijing (about 8 hours). Chengdu North and Chengdu stations handle older rail routes. For Tibet, daily flights to Lhasa take about 2 hours; the train (via Xining) is a scenic 2-day journey.
