Yarlung Tea House

A traditional Tibetan tea house on a side street in Tsetang, frequented mainly by local men. The house specialty is butter tea — salty, thick, and an acquired taste — along with sweet milk tea and chang (fermented barley beer). Low wooden tables, cushioned benches, and a wood stove in the corner. This is a good place to sit for an hour and watch town life; nobody is in a hurry. A small plate of tsampa or dried fruit usually comes with the tea. Very affordable.
