Tianchi's appeal is the combination of a dramatically set alpine lake and access to genuine mountain terrain. Most visitors come for the view, which is excellent; those willing to walk beyond the main viewpoints find uncrowded trails and the sense of being in the Bogda Shan rather than simply looking at it.
