Paphos Harbour

Photogenic working harbour ringed by tavernas and the castle

The old harbour of Kato Paphos is the social heart of the lower town: a small horseshoe of fishing boats, day-cruise yachts and a single Ottoman castle anchoring the breakwater. The quay is lined with tavernas, ice cream stands and souvenir shops, and a paved promenade runs north along the coast all the way past the lighthouse.

At sunset the place fills up. Stay for a glass of Commandaria and watch the fishermen bring in the day's catch.
