Things to Do

Paphos has one of the best archaeological parks in the Mediterranean. The Roman mosaic floors in the House of Dionysus and the surrounding villas in the Paphos Archaeological Park are extraordinary — some of the finest in situ anywhere in the Roman world — and a short walk away lie the rock-cut Tombs of the Kings from the Hellenistic period. The Byzantine Museum and the Paphos Archaeological Museum hold serious collections, and the squat Paphos Castle at the end of the harbour is the obvious starting point for an evening walk. Further afield: the hillside birthplace of Aphrodite at Petra tou Romiou and the Akamas Peninsula, the last wild corner of Cyprus.
