The old town and the central bazaars are easily walked, but distances stretch out once you head to Devuni Kadapa, the cathedral, or the airport. Auto-rickshaws are plentiful and cheap; agree on a fare before getting in or insist on the meter. Cycle-rickshaws are still seen in the bazaar streets and are useful for short hops with shopping.
There are no app-based ride-hailing services here in any reliable form. For day trips into the surrounding hills, hire a taxi for the day from one of the operators near the bus stand or your hotel. Rates are in the order of Rs 2,500–3,500 for a full day with an air-conditioned car and driver.
