When to Go

Cuddapah sits in the inland dry belt of Andhra Pradesh and is hot for most of the year. Summer (April–June) is brutal — daytime temperatures regularly above 40°C and frequently above 43°C — and is best avoided unless you have to be there. Monsoon (July–September) brings some relief; rainfall is modest compared to the coast but enough to drop the heat.

The reliable season is October through February, when daytime highs settle into the high 20s and low 30s, the air dries out, and the dargahs and temples are most pleasant to visit. The Ameen Peer Dargah's annual urs falls in this window in most years and brings a festival atmosphere to the old town.
