St Mary's Cathedral

St Mary's Cathedral in the Mariapuram neighbourhood is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kadapa and one of the more architecturally striking churches in Andhra Pradesh. The Gothic façade — twin spires, pointed-arch windows, carved stone — would not look out of place in southern Europe and is unusual for inland south India. The interior is high-vaulted and well kept; daylight through the side windows is the right time to see it.

The cathedral opens around 9 a.m. and is open to visitors throughout the day outside service times. Modest dress and quiet voices. Address: Mariapuram, Kadapa.
