Nimrah Cafe

The most famous of Hyderabad's Irani cafes, directly opposite the Charminar on the lane leading to Laad Bazaar, open since 1939. The order here is Irani chai — a milky, sweetened tea brewed separately and combined at serving — with Osmania biscuits, the butter biscuit designed specifically for dunking. The recipe has barely changed in decades. Go early morning when the chai is freshest and the Charminar is free of afternoon crowds; the combination of the minaret view, the brass urns, and the sugared tea is the quintessential Hyderabad start to a day.
