Baruva is a small coastal village near the Andhra Pradesh–Odisha border, reached by continuing north along the coast from Srikakulam. The beach here is clean and almost entirely free of visitors — casuarina-lined, with fine sand and a village of fishing families who watch passing travellers with mild curiosity. There is no tourist infrastructure at all.
The Bahuda River meets the sea near Baruva, creating a backwater area of some ecological interest. Wading birds are common in the shallow waters near the river mouth. The setting is more intimate than Kalingapatnam, and the absence of any historical significance means it attracts no pilgrims, no hawkers, and virtually no one who isn't from the village itself. Combine it with a drive along the coast road for a pleasantly unhurried half-day. Bring provisions from Srikakulam as there is nothing to eat here beyond what you can buy from a tea stall.
