Guwahati Ropeway

A cable car across the Brahmaputra, opened in 2020 and running from Kachari Ghat on the south bank to Doul Govinda on the north — a span of 1.8 km, one of the longest river ropeways in India. The ride takes about eight minutes each way; cabins hold around 30 people.

The view of the river, Peacock Island and the old centre is excellent, and the ride is cheaper than a comparable boat trip — under ₹100 each way. The far end at North Guwahati gives access to the Doul Govinda temple and a few small heritage spots. Closed for maintenance occasionally; check before going. Get there early on weekends to avoid queues.
