Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum

Indology and miniature paintings

The L.D. Museum is part of the L.D. Institute of Indology and holds one of the finest collections of Indian miniature paintings in Gujarat — Pahari, Rajasthani, and Mughal works, plus over 75,000 Jain manuscript paintings and palm-leaf documents. The bronze gallery is particularly strong on south Indian temple sculpture. The modernist 1963 museum building by architect Balkrishna Doshi is itself notable.

Free entry, closed Wednesdays. The shaded campus is a calm place to spend an hour after the heat of the old city.
