The official residence of the former rulers of Rajkot State, completed in 1865 and a mix of European-Italianate and traditional Gujarati architectural styles. The palace is set in landscaped grounds with deer and peacocks, and includes the family's private collection of period furniture, paintings, hunting trophies and royal vehicles. Parts of the building remain a private residence; the public sections operate as a small heritage museum on a limited schedule.
The chandelier-lit dining hall and the durbar room are the most striking interiors. Check current opening hours before visiting — the palace is closed on national holidays and sometimes for private functions. Photography inside is restricted.
