Gopi Talav is a historic lake in the Gopipura neighbourhood of central Surat, one of the oldest parts of the city. The lake and its surrounding gardens provide a relatively quiet space within the urban fabric and are popular with locals for early morning walks and evening relaxation.
The talav (lake) has been here since at least the Mughal period and was an important water source for the neighbourhood. The gardens around it have been maintained and developed as a public park. Near the lake is a small temple and the remnants of the historic Gopipura quarter. It is a pleasant hour's visit, particularly combined with exploring the narrow lanes of the old quarter nearby.
