When to Go

October through March is the best time to visit. The weather is cool and dry, comfortable for walking between the tanks and temples. October and November bring the Gita Jayanti festival — a large celebration marking the day Krishna delivered the Bhagavad Gita, with processions, discourses, and cultural programmes centred on Jyotisar and the main tanks. Solar eclipses, whenever they fall, draw enormous crowds to Brahma Sarovar: the 2019 eclipse brought an estimated 1.5 million pilgrims in a single day, and normal town infrastructure becomes overwhelmed — worth knowing before you book.

May and June are best avoided. Temperatures in Haryana regularly reach 45°C and the flat plain offers no relief. The monsoon (July–September) is tolerable but can make some of the ghats slippery and the heat humid.
