Rahala Waterfalls

Roadside Himalayan waterfall on the climb toward Rohtang Pass.

Rahala Waterfalls is one of the easy scenic stops north of Manali, where meltwater drops through a narrow, rocky channel beside the old road to Rohtang Pass. The setting is more memorable than the scale of the fall itself: pine and deodar forest below, bare high-country slopes above, and a sudden chill in the air as the valley climbs toward the pass.

Most travellers see Rahala as a short halt on the way to Solang Valley or Rohtang rather than as a separate excursion. It is still worth the pause, especially early in the season when snowmelt gives the stream real force. Traffic and roadside vendors can crowd the stop in peak months, so come early if you want the mountain atmosphere without the convoy feel.
