Getting There

Bangalore is served by Kempegowda International Airport (IATA: BLR), about 35km north of the city centre in Devanahalli. It handles a large volume of domestic traffic — flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata run throughout the day — as well as international connections to the Gulf, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America. The airport is modern and well organised. Pre-paid taxis and the Kempegowda Express metro line (opened 2023) connect the terminal to the city; the metro is the faster and cheaper option during rush hour.

By rail, Bangalore is well connected to the rest of India. KSR Bengaluru City station (also called Majestic) is the main terminus, with trains to Chennai (roughly 5 hours on the Shatabdi Express), Mumbai (24 hours), Delhi (around 33 hours on the Rajdhani), and Mysuru (2 hours). Yeshwantpur Junction to the northwest handles some long-distance trains and can be more convenient depending on your route. By road, the city sits at the intersection of major national highways; there are good bus connections from Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mysuru, and the KSRTC buses are reliable and frequent.
